SaskPower Customer Check List for Site Readiness

 For a new service to be provided the following criteria must be met

__  Site drawing showing the house on the lot and the meter location.

__  House number must to visible from the street.

__  House must be backfilled, and the lot to within 150mm (6 inches) of finished grade.

__  A 3 meter clearance for men and equipment is required.

__  Ensure the service route from the supply point to the meter socket is clear of debris or obstructions, such as dirt piles and lumber.

__  SaskPower trenches from the supply facility to the service entrance (located on the closest corner from the pedestal to the house).

  • If an alternate customer preferred location is requested, charges for additional trenching and cable may apply.

 __  A 1 meter clearance from the SaskEnergy trench is required.

 __  Contact SaskTel and or Cable Company for service.

If all the above requirements are met, please contact SaskPower to notify us that you are ready for your service to be installed. The serviceperson will verify site readiness, and your service will be scheduled for trenching.

Requirements for getting a meter installed and energized.

__  An Electrical Permit must be purchased and submitted to SaskPower Electrical Inspections.

  • The service address on the electrical permit must match the service address provided on the service application.
  • Without this permit SaskPower will not be able to install the meter and energize your service.

__  Service on the house must be wired into the Panel Box, and connected to the meter socket.

  • The main breaker must be in the OFF position before the meter can be installed.
