The Regina & Region Home Builders’ Association, the Regina & District Chamber of Commerce, the Regina Construction Association, the Saskatchewan Heavy Construction Association, and the Saskatchewan REALTORS® Association have come together to launch a new initiative titled “Keep Regina Growing”. The purpose of this campaign is to provide the community with an opportunity to talk about the importance of growth and to share stories about what growth means to them.
Over the last few decades, city-wide growth in Regina has created so much opportunity for current and prospective residents. Overall, civic pride has grown with the city’s boundaries. We no longer hear Regina citizens ask why people would want to move here, instead we see people welcomed and encouraged to stay – but we must not take this for granted. We must not simply assume that our city will continue to grow under its own perpetual momentum. In the wake of COVID-19, as we head into what may be a slower-growth period globally, we need to become much more steadfast in supporting and fostering city-wide growth whenever and wherever possible.
Achieving sustainable growth will require our leaders and our citizens to believe that expanding and changing is valuable and important. Many would agree that they would like to live in a city that is vibrant and thriving, but in order to become a vibrant city we must be able to create new experiences for those currently living in our great city and for newcomers looking to call Regina home. Growth will then encourage innovation; it will improve upon the existing cultural fabric of our city; and it will help strengthen the local economy.
We have strategically launched our Keep Regina Growing campaign just in time for the Civic Election. This was intended to signal to those running for City Council that individuals and businesses throughout the community have an interest in supporting policies that will help achieve sustainable, city-wide growth.
We are looking for members to place our Keep Regina Growing campaign signage in their windows, or in any place that works for you. To get some signs, simply email s.niebergall@reginahomebuilders.com and let us know where to drop them off.
Regina citizens and local businesses are also encouraged to check out www.keepreginagrowing.ca where there are opportunities to share your thoughts on why growth is good for our city. Head on over and consider joining the movement!
